How to Disable Sounds from Playing on Web Pages in Google Chrome

The steps in this article were performed in the desktop version of Google Chrome. By changing this setting you will prevent pages that you visit from playing any audio files. Step 1: Open Google Chrome.   Step 2: Click the Customize and control Google Chrome button at the top-right corner of the window.

Step 3: Choose the Settings option.

Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the menu and click the Advanced option.

    Step 5: Scroll down and click the Content settings button.

    Step 6: Scroll down and choose the Sound option.

    Step 7: Click the button to the right of Allow sites to play sound to turn it off. After you click that button, the setting will change to say Mute sites that play sound. Chrome won’t play sounds on any sites with the setting in the picture below.
